Within the scope of the opening ceremony held at the Sarajevo National Theatre, a red carpet parade was held with the participation of important names from the cinema world.
Thousands of moviegoers from all over the world attended the opening ceremony of SFF, which is called the biggest event of Southeast European cinema and where more than 230 films from 70 countries will meet with moviegoers.
Irish singer Bono Vox, known as the lead singer of the famous rock band U2, also walked the red carpet and met with the attention of the participants.
American director, film producer and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman was awarded the “Heart of Sarajevo” Honorary Award at the opening ceremony of the festival.
SFF was inaugurated with the movie “Kiss the Future” by Slovenian director Nenad Cicin-Sain. Produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, the film is about the struggle of the people in Sarajevo, which was under siege during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The festival will meet with moviegoers in Sarajevo as well as other major cities of the country, Mostar and Tuzla.
The world premiere of Tabi’s series Rumi is also at SFF
“Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi”, broadcast on TRT’s digital platform, Tabi, will have its world premiere at SFF.
The first episode of the Rumi series, starring Bülent İnal, Kaan Yıldırım, Ahu Türkpençe, Devrim Özkan, Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu, Mert Turak and Nilay Deniz, about the period when the great Islamic scholar Mevlana lived, will be at the Sarajevo National Theater on August 12. will meet the audience.
49 films will compete at the festival, which will end on August 18.
At SFF, 49 films will compete for the “Heart of Sarajevo” award in the categories of feature films, short films, documentary films and student films. At the festival, 2 of the films in the “Feature Film” category will have their world premieres and 5 films will have their regional premieres.
The festival, which will end on August 18 and is expected to be visited by 100,000 people from many parts of the world, will also host film screenings as well as various activities related to cinema.
SFF, which was started to erase the traces of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been continuing for a quarter of a century, has hosted world-famous names until today.
“Heart of Sarajevo” Honor Award, the most special award of the festival throughout the history of SFF, in 2010 Morgan Freeman, 2011 Angelina Jolie, 2016 Robert de Niro, 2017 Oliver Stone, 2018 Nuri Bilge Ceylan, 2019 It was presented to Tim Roth in 2021, Wim Wenders in 2021, and Ruben Östlund, Jesse Eisenberg and Mads Mikkelsen in 2022.
While world-famous names such as Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Daniel Craig and John Malkovich participated in the festival, many Turkish productions received awards.
