NATO and EU Send Aid to Flood-hit Slovenia

NATO and the European Union (EU) are sending aid to Slovenia , where the flood disaster was experienced.

According to a written statement made by NATO, upon Slovenia’s request for assistance, NATO communicated the needs to allies and partner countries.

Thereupon, proposals were made by the countries in question, including assistance such as helicopters, modular bridges, excavators and engineering expertise.

In this context, Spain offered a heavy CH-47 helicopter with up to 25 personnel, including crew and support personnel.

Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany and France have also offered support through the EU, including helicopters, excavators, prefabricated bridges and engineering teams.

The US has also sent personnel to the capital, Ljubljana, to assess the situation and identify urgent humanitarian needs.

On the other hand, in the statement made by the EU, it was announced that France plans to send 2 excavators together with its engineering units, Germany plans to send 2 prefabricated bridges, 2 excavators and related personnel.

Six people died in the flood, which was effective in the northern, central, eastern and western parts of Slovenia.
