Netflix lowers the price of its subscriptions in 30 countries … but not in France

To attract new customers, Netflix will lower the price of its subscriptions in no less than 30 countries. However, France is not affected by this reduction.

Netflix thinks about the future. While there are more and more streaming platforms, the American firm has decided to strike a blow on the market, reports 01net , on February 24, 2023. The company has decided to lower the cost of its subscriptions. Unfortunately, France should not be concerned for the moment. Indeed, only 30 countries could benefit from this discount on Netflix subscriptions. Among them are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Yemen, Jordan, Libya, Iran, Kenya, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

One of the American company’s co-CEOs, Greg Peters, warned that such a decision could be made when announcing the financial results in the fourth quarter of 2022. “We are looking to serve more members across the world trying to provide appropriate value at these different price points, and we’re doing a good job expanding that range […] There are a lot of people around the world in countries where we’re not yet well implanted, and we have the opportunity to go and attract them”, he assured then.

The reduction in the cost of the subscription will not be the same from one country to another. It could thus be halved in certain territories . Those privileged are in areas where customers are scarce or have deserted the platform. It is for these reasons that the French should not see their bill evolve. However, Netflix does not rule out deploying this drop in subscriptions in other countries in the coming months.
