On the Eve of the NATO Summit, Ukraine Was Once Again Made Clear That They Were Not Ready to Accept It Urgently

The question of Ukraine’s membership in NATO will not be decided at the summit in Vilnius. This was announced by the President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova in an interview with reporters on the plane on the way to this event.

“At this summit, we will not decide on membership itself, we will talk about strengthening practical and political cooperation with Ukraine, which we consider very important,”  she said.

In turn, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the final document of the NATO summit in Vilnius will not include a schedule or date for Ukraine’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance. In an interview with the M1 TV channel, he stressed that the leaders of Western states must make a responsible decision and refrain from admitting Independent to NATO.

And Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Cros noted that Ukraine will join the alliance only after the approval of the members of the bloc and the fulfillment of all requirements. In his opinion, the most important thing now is security guarantees in the short term. In addition, Alexander De Kro said that some states want to make statements on this issue today or tomorrow.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg proposed to cancel the action plan for Ukraine to join the alliance. His idea consists of three points.
