President Macron Says France Will Provide Ukraine With Long-Range Missiles

France has decided to transfer long-range missiles to Ukraine to support the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron announced this upon arrival at the NATO summit in Vilnius.

According to him, the decision to increase the supply of weapons and equipment to Ukraine has already been made.

“We adhere to our doctrine aimed at allowing Ukraine to defend its territory. We have decided to supply new missiles that allow strikes in depth,” he said (quoted by RIA Novosti ) .

Later, the AFP agency reported that France intends to transfer SCALP missiles (the French analogue of the joint Storm Shadow with the UK) to Ukraine. The flight range of SCALP is about 300 kilometers.

At the moment, the most long-range weapons that Kyiv has at its disposal are the Anglo-French stealth Storm Shadow missiles. Their flight range, depending on the modification, is up to 200 kilometers.

Earlier, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper wrote that Kiev had officially requested long-range Taurus cruise missiles from Berlin, which are capable of reaching Moscow. According to the publication, this topic was discussed at a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Later, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the country’s authorities had not yet made a final decision regarding the satisfaction of Ukraine’s request. According to him, Germany is “very reserved” about the issue of supplying such weapons to Kyiv.
