New evidence is coming to light about the actions of the Pakistani terrorists in Greece, who plotted to attack a Jewish restaurant in the centre of the Greek capital. Operation Hyacinth was crowned with success, the two Pakistanis were arrested and bloodshed was prevented.
Information provided by Israel played an important role and contributed to the arrest of the terrorists. Also, the identity of the mastermind of the terrorist ring, who lives permanently in Iran and gave instructions to the Pakistanis, was revealed.
The Iranian Embassy on hearing the news went on the counterattack and denied the accusations.
“The Embassy of Iran strongly denies the rumours spread by Zionist sources and their baseless accusations against Iran. It is obvious that their fabricated scenarios are intended to divert the public’s attention from their internal crisis,” the embassy said in a post.
On the other hand, Israel congratulated the Greek Police, while the dismantling of the ring is featuring heavily in both Israeli and Pakistani media.
According to Israeli media, in addition to the two arrested, 27-year-old Hayder and 29-year-old Hussain, the terrorist organisation tried to recruit at least 15 other Pakistanis, as well as Albanians, looking for weapons and professional killers.
The connection to the war in Ukraine
Greece has never been a country targeted by jihadists, such as al-Qaeda. But the plan of the two Pakistanis raises concern and questions the reasons why our country became a target of terrorists.
According to Greek authorities, the strained relations between Greece and Russia, due to the war in Ukraine, has put the country in the target of the Russo-Iranian axis, with the result that terrorists are also targeting Greece for possible attacks.
The thriller in Istanbul
At the same time, other information is revealed about how the authorities managed to dismantle the network. As reported, the case began to unravel in Istanbul .
According to a report by Kathimerini, “some Israeli media had linked the attack plan to Al-Quds, which could be described as the Intelligence Directorate of the ‘Revolutionary Guards’.”
The reason for the above events was allegedly the assassination, on May 23, 2022, of an Iranian official in Tehran.
It was Sayyad Khodai, a colonel of the “Revolutionary Guards” who was executed with five bullets near his home in Tehran. The next morning, the president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, had publicly stated that Iran would take revenge for Khodai’s murder.
In the meantime, the photos of the terrorists were published, while their conversations on mobile phones were targeted by the police.
In one of the terrorists’ dialogues, their leader in Tehran appears to say: “Two or three people go there and set fire to the kitchen when you get a chance.”
The 27-year-old is reported to have replied: “I want them to be at least worth the money and I want them in a central location with at least 40 to 50 people.”
The leader answers: “Work should be done in such a way that they have no leeway. Do you understand that?” and the 27-year-old replies “it will happen. I promise you that I will send you photos and videos of each injured person.”
The leader answers again: “Whatever wound and trauma there will be, be clearly visible on the video.”
The Pakistanis had completed reconnaissance of the area and were preparing to recruit more jihadists. In fact, 16,000 euros would be paid for each victim.
